Bei schwarzem Tee handelt es sich um die getrockneten Blätter des Teestrauchs (Camellia sinensis). Der bis zu 15 m hoch wachsende Strauch ist in der südlichen Hemisphäre beheimatet. Er wird in China, Indonesien und Sri Lanka als Kulturpflanze angebaut und auch aus diesen Ländern exportiert. Camellia sinensis is the tea plant, the plant species whose leaves and leaf buds are used to produce tea. White tea, green tea, oolong and black tea are all harvested from this species, but are processed differently to attain different levels of oxidation. The leaves have been used in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), and other medical systems to treat asthma (functioning as a bronchodilator), angina pectoris, peripheral vascular disease, and coronary artery disease.
