Der Baum kann bis zu 25 m hoch werden. Er hat eine blass-silbergraue Rinde und gehört zur Familie der Birkengewächse. Die weiblichen und männlichen Blüten befinden sich an ein- und demselben Baum. Die Blütezeit ist von April bis Mai. Als Bachblüte wird Hornbeam verordnet bei Überforderungs- und Schwächegefühlen, Angst zu versagen, Frustriertheit und bei Pessimismus. Im transformierten Zustand erwwckt Hornbeam die mentale Frische, Spontanität, Vitalität und einen wachen Geist. They are relatively small hardwood trees. Many botanists place the hornbeams in the birch family Betulaceae. The leaves are deciduous, alternate, and simple with a serrated margin, and typically vary from 3-10 cm in length. The flowers are wind-pollinated pendulous catkins, produced in spring. The male and female flowers are on separate catkins, but on the same tree (monoecious). The fruit is a small nut about 3-6 mm long, held in a leafy bract. In the therapy of Dr. Bach Hornbeam is the Bach Flower Remedy used against feelings of exhaustion and tiredness that come before an effort has been made. The person in this state feels that he or she is too tired to cope with the demands of the day. The affairs of every day seem too much for them to accomplish.
